Spring means many things, but one of my favorite things is that Hancock Shaker Village welcomes baby animals. Spring is the rebirth of all living things: plants, trees, flowers and animal babies! Each year Hancock Shaker Village celebrates its growing family of animals. The round barn, a very unusual stone structure in itself, shows off new calves, piglets, ducklings, chicks, and lambs.
Enjoy your visit with the babies and their parents and take the time to explore the entire village. Volunteer led tours take you into the buildings and give you a glimpse into the lives of some of the Shakers who lived and worked in the Village. They were very industrious and, at the same time, religious. Everything they did was in service to God. You will hear some of the hymns they sung as they put their hands to God. They danced, sang, gardened, crafted stunning boxes and quilts, and farmed.
Visit their gift shop while there for some of their handcrafts. There’s a restaurant on site for lunch which specializes in farm to table food mostly from their own gardens.
Book your stay with us and we will make sure you get discount admission tickets. The baby animals will be available for viewing from April 15 ( re-opening day of the Village) through May 7.
