Our Response to Covid-19

Keeping Our Guests & Staff Safe 

As the coronavirus continues to have an impact around the world, it’s important for us to share with you the additional steps we are taking to keep you and our employees safe and healthy.

At The Rookwood Inn, we have always adhered to the highest cleaning standards possible. We have implemented additional measures in the face of COVID-19 to ensure that you feel a sense of safety and security when staying with us. We are confident that these extra measures and precautions make The Rookwood Inn a safer place to stay so that you can relax and enjoy your vacation or getaway. For the safety of our guests and staff, we have added cleaning, disinfecting and sanitation procedures that comply with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), state and local guidelines, as well as those recommended by hospitality industry experts.  

These changes cover all aspects of our operations, including breakfast and other dining, guest room housekeeping, and common area cleaning and sanitation, and supplement our already rigorous processes. Our goal is to ensure the utmost in cleanliness and hygiene. Please read about our enhanced procedures below and please contact us if you have any questions regarding your reservation.

Guest Check-In and Check-Out

While it is always our preference to personally welcome our guests, we believe that implementing social distancing guidelines is wise in the current climate. We have implemented a new no touch check-in and check-out procedures for our guests’ safety and convenience.Our reservation system collects payments and processes receipts electronically prior to guest arrivals, so the need for credit cards, pens, or papers to be exchanged at arrival should not be necessary.

If a credit card needs to be run while a guest is checking in or out, we will make sure the card is sanitized prior to its return to the guest.

We will provide all necessary information at check-in while maintaining a safe distance. All information will also be in a personalized letter in your room. Your sanitized key will be in your room along with the door code and wifi password. Innkeepers and staff are available all times and will be happy to answer any questions that you might have. Feel free to call us at 413-637-9750. We ask that you leave your key on the dresser in your room and close the door, when you check out.


Upon check-in, if you are on our B&B Plan, you will be asked what time you wish to have your breakfast the following morning in the dining room. There are limited tables to assure compliance with social/physical distancing.  You may request a tray which you may bring out on the porch or to your room. We do ask that trays are left outside your room or brought back to the dining room to be cleaned and sanitized.

We also offer a to-go option of a bagged breakfast.

Self-Serve Coffee, Tea, and Other Refreshments

Self-service amenities will not be available at this time. You may request beverages from the staff and innkeepers throughout the day if you would like. Ice will be available from the innkeeper as well as our afternoon refreshments which will be individually wrapped and left outside your room.

Guest Rooms and Housekeeping Service

There will be at least a of a 24-hour interval in each room between guest departures and the next guest arrival.Items such as decorative throw pillows, extra blankets, magazines, pens and notepads have been removed from the rooms. We will happily assist you if you request those items.   Once a guest has checked-out, The room will be stripped of all linens which are then bagged and taken to be washed and sanitized. Beds will be remade with clean and sanitized linens. All hard surfaces in the guest rooms will be cleaned with a disinfecting agent, including door knobs, light switches, drawer knobs, alarm clock/charging/docking stations, thermostat controls and TV remote controls.All soft surfaces will be sprayed with a fabric disinfectant. Bathrooms will continue to be disinfected, including fixtures, glass shower doors, and shower curtains and liners.Once cleaned to our highest standard, each guest room will be locked and will remain so until you check-in.

Daily Housekeeping Service

Daily housekeeping has been discontinued at this time. For stays of a longer duration, we will arrange a cleaning schedule with you when you will be out of the room for at least four hours to allow all sanitizing and disinfecting agents to work. This will minimize staff need to access your room during a stay. 

Trash Removal and Soiled/Used Towel Removal 

Trash baskets are provided in each guest room with extra bags. Please close and tie a filled bag and place it outside your door by 1 p.m. to signal you want it removed. A cloth laundry bag is provided in your room to request replacement towels. Please place it outside of the room and phone us to let us know what you need replaced.Clean towels will be delivered and left outside your door, upon your request.

Common Areas

Common areas will be cleaned and sanitized as always. High touch areas such as door knobs, banisters and door jams will be cleaned even more frequently by staff. Hand sanitizer will be made available throughout the common areas.

Staff and Innkeepers

Staff has been trained for enhanced cleaning and serving procedures. Staff is provided with:Face masks that are either disposed of or, in the case of cloth, washed/sanitized after each use.Protective disposable gloves  


Kitchen sanitation procedures, as always, will continue with:    

High-temperature commercial grade dishwasher to sanitize dishes, silverware and glassware.

Surfaces cleaned and sanitized with solution per CDC requirements for sanitizing solution.

We promise to make The Rookwood Inn as safe and welcoming as possible. Please do your part to minimize risks by social/physical distancing, hand washing, using a face-covering when inside the building, and following sanitizing guidelines.
